The Age Old Directory Scam


Reading your e-mail sent a chill down my spine recalling the battle we had with a scam company under the name of Ambus Registry, Inc., whose M.O. is similar to this IT Direct. Could they be the same? Culpeper board member demands inquiry into what prompted farmers to dump cow carcass at county offices

A Culpeper County supervisor has requested an investigation of the circumstances that led to a dead cow being dumped in a county administration building parking space last month.
'I hope the board will look into this situation,' Supervisor Sue Hansohn said. 'If something wasn't done properly, we need to try and find out what.'
Hansohn's remarks came after county resident John Colvin and his uncle, Joseph Colvin, publicly blasted Culpeper County Animal Control during the public-comment segment of last night's Board of Supervisors meeting.
'What are you going to do about the problem of Animal Control?' Josh Colvin asked the board. 'Will you sweep it under the carpet?'
Josh and his cousin Wyatt dumped a dead Black Angus cow in the government parking lot on the night of Jan. 17.
The cousins claim Animal Control had demanded they remove the animal, which they say was not theirs, from the Thornton River. They then sent the county a $700 bill for their carcass-removal efforts.
After receiving a response that the government would pay only $75, they decided to give the cow to the supervisors.
Both have been charged with improperly disposing of a dead carcass, a Class IV misdemeanor, and will appear in District Court tomorrow.
Joseph Colvin also took a public shot at Animal Control last night. 'I'd like to know why I got a threatening phone call--to my minor daughter--telling me I had to remove a cow from the river?' he asked.
He said that he has since tried to contact Animal Control without success. 'I've called, but I have gotten no respon"
